Recruiting at VCU

Handshake
All part-time, full-time, internship and co-op positions are posted on Handshake, VCU’s student and alumni employment portal. There is no fee to post opportunities through Handshake.
No. In addition to job, internship, and other opportunity postings, you can also sign up for one of our career fairs, post events, manage your on-campus interviews, and review job applicants.
Organizations that recruit VCU students and alumni are expected to follow VCU Career Services’ posting policies. In addition, recruiters are encouraged to review the Principles for Professional Practices established by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.

Internships and Experiential Opportunities
Internship guidelines are established by the department from which the student is seeking credit. Some departments award academic credit for internships and others do not. If academic credit is awarded, the student is required to register for the course and to pay the class registration fee.
The U.S. Department of Labor has established guidelines under the Fair Labor Standards Act to help employers determine if they are required to pay interns.

If you are interested in being added to our list of employers who can host on-site visits or offer job shadowing, please complete the following form. We share this information publicly on our website, under Gaining Experience with VCU students to encourage them to engage with your organization to learn more about the functions within your organization and, hopefully, the part-time, experiential, and full-time opportunities available to our undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
Federal Work-Study
Information on the Federal Work-Study program is available on the Student Financial Services website.
All Federal Work-Study positions for VCU students must be posted through Handshake.
